CNC Machinist
DEPARTMENT: Production
Shift and Hours: Monday through Thursday, 4:00 pm to 2:00 am or Friday through Sunday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

JOB SUMMARY:
Lake Region Medical is seeking CNC Machinists for second and weekend shiftsThis position is responsible for performing duties as assigned to complete product as specified by the IP drawing, blueprint, or work order.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees are expected to support the quality concepts inherent in the business philosophies of Lake Region Medical, including a variety of job related tasks which may not be specific to this position profile. 

Accountabilities Include:

  • Receive instructions from department supervisor or technician.
  • Perform assigned duties per documented procedures, i.e. routers, basic prints, SOP’s, and IP packet.
  • Record required information on manufacturing documentation accurately and neatly.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on machines.  Assure that the work area and aisles around the machines are kept clean and free of debris.
  • Perform simple set-ups with assistance, and run production on products that have a proven program and process.  Meet or exceed the production rates and notify supervisor or technician if rates cannot be met.
  • Monitor machine for tool wear or breakage, change tooling, and make machine adjustments as necessary to produce a quality part.
  • Perform daily 5S review of work area according to the department 5S audit sheet.
  • Ability to use problem solving techniques to resolve simple machine problems with assistance from supervisor or technician.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections on line as required by router or set up to verify parts meet specifications.
  • Perform additional operations such as deburring, cleaning, and packaging to satisfy production, quality, and general business requirements.
  • Assist in training other operators when required.
  • Employees are required to supply their own equipment to perform their daily duties, such as micrometer, blade mic, 6-inch caliper, allen wrenches, etc.
  • Apply continuous improvement/lean concepts and practices, such as Rapid A3 problem solving, Hour by Hour boards and 5S methodologies.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or technician.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of one-year machinist training course or 3 years machine shop experience.
  • Knowledge and skill to operate lathes, mills, drill press, and other related equipment.
  • Knowledge and skill of various inspection equipment used in machine shop to verify product meets customer specifications such as micrometer, calipers, optical measuring equipment, and toolmakers scope.
  • Ability to use microscope for visual inspection for burrs and defects to ensure that the product meets specifications.
  • Ability to learn equipment, methods, and the desire to advance in knowledge, skills, and abilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Machine shop where a variety of machines are used to produce products primarily for the medical industry from various metals and alloys.
  • Accidents or health hazards negligible – remote possibility of injury.

Production Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Production
Shift and Hours: Second shift (4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday), or a weekend shift.  There will be an initial 2-3 month training period on a 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday shift.

JOB SUMMARY:
Lake Region Medical is seeking a Production Supervisor. This position is to direct and supervise production activities and employees in accordance with Lake Region policies, procedures, and standards to achieve established production schedules and desired quality levels.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees are expected to support the quality concepts inherent in the business philosophies of Lake Region Medical, including a variety of job related tasks which may not be specific to this position profile.

Accountabilities Include:

  • Supervise, assist, and evaluate employees to insure proper performance of work and communication of company expectations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in interviews and the selection of qualified personnel to fill vacancies.
  • Conduct fair and impartial performance evaluations in a timely fashion.
  • Guide and monitor Group Leader/Technician and Team Leader in efficient job staging, line flow, product flow, material acquisition, and related production accountabilities.
  • Guide and monitor the planning of daily schedules and work assignments to each team in order to produce products that meet quality standards and production schedules.
  • Work with Team, Team Leader, Group Lead/Technician, ME, and QE to analyze non-conforming product to determine root cause of failure using the 8 Step Problem Solving method, and coordinate appropriate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work with Team, Team Leader, Group Lead/Technician, ME, and QE to reduce scrap to achieve or surpass levels defined by the corporate goals and objectives.
  • Participate in daily meeting held by Teams to review Visual Management Board and Shift Log Book information and ensure that production needs will be met.
  • Support Lean concepts and drive Lean initiatives in your area of responsibility.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment by assisting Group Lead/Technician in conducting daily walk through in their work area to ensure that team is sustaining 5S Program.
  • Monitor area’s productivity numbers along with the area’s labor and production efficiencies.
  • Assist Planning with scheduling and assigning work in order to meet customer requests, maintain workflow, machine integration and productivity.
  • Generate production reports specific to area of operation.
  • Promote injury prevention and keep “finger on pulse” dealing with Safety/Nurse when indeed an injury occurs – in a professional manner.
  • Apply continuous improvement/lean concepts to identify and eliminate non-value added tasks and/or activities.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma required.  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience in a manufacturing environment, or 5 plus years of lead or senior operator production experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.  Exposure to Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production, Materials and Maintenance functions is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years well-rounded experience in a manufacturing environment working with small, high tolerance parts from a variety of materials in high volume.  Medical device industry experience desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all employees.
  • Displays leadership skills to effectively supervise and train work groups.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successfully interacts and cooperates with diverse groups within the company.
  • Has thorough knowledge of procedures, work methods, and set-ups within the department.
  • Exhibits good product knowledge.
  • Demonstrated skills with all equipment related to the department operations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard indoor working conditions in a temperature controlled environment.  May be exposed to an objectionable element, but only occasionally, such as noise and vapors, in a well-ventilated room.
  • Clean working conditions, requiring eye protection and use of appropriate safety and environmental gear as designated by area.

Machine Maintenance Mechanic II
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
POSITION REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
HOURS: Friday -Sunday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, this position will perform skilled duties in the repair of manufacturing machines and general maintenance of  production equipment..  Job duties may include hazardous waste management responsibilities that involve handling, marking/labeling, storing and preparing for shipments.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employees are expected to support the quality concepts inherent in the business philosophies of Lake Region Manufacturing, Inc., including a variety of job related tasks which may not be specific to this position profile.

Accountabilities Include:

  1. Troubleshoot and repair complex production equipment, suggest improvements to improve reliability.

  2. Assist with the building of new equipment, including both mechanical assembles and electrical circuits.

  3. Diagnose and repair electrical circuits, pneumatic and hydraulic systems for production equipment.

  4. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce production downtime.

  5. Must play an active role as a member of the Spill Response Team.

  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

     

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School degree, or equivalent.
  • One year trade school and two years experience required.
  • Industrial Electricity 1 & 2 coursework, or equivalent required.
  • Must read and understand blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Must have above average mechanical abilities.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must own or be willing to purchase personal hand tools.
  • Must work well with others.
  • Must have good mechanical problem solving and resolution skills.
  • Will be required to work in confidential areas and with confidential information.
  • Must have good writing skills for documentation of machine information within a maintenance log system.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Lifting 50-100 pounds.
  • Walking between buildings, including times of inclement weather.
  • May require ladder climbing.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work without supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standard working conditions.  May be exposed to objectionable elements but only occasionally, such as noise and fumes.
  • Accidents or health hazards negligible. Remote possibility of injury.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS AND PRESENCE OF SUPERVISION:
This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
